INTERDICT KEEPS COMAIR FLYING
Comair Ltd was granted an interdict by the Pretoria High Court on May 17 which ensures continued operations by the JSE-listed airline operator. The airline said that the interdict was not opposed by the Air Services Licensing Council (ASLC), which has been questioning Comair’s foreign ownership and alleged non-compliance with the Air Services Licensing Act.
“It’s business as usual and we remain confident that Comair is compliant with the Act. We are pleased as this interdict ensures operational certainty for the many thousands of travellers who fly with Comair” said ceo, Erik Venter. Last week the airline applied for an interim interdict to prevent the ASLC from suspending its domestic licence. “The interdict hearing was always set down for hearing today, but because the Council could not give us clarity last week we needed an interim interdict just to get us to conclusion of the scheduled hearing this week,” said Erik.
